What made you decide to study in Czechia?
As a first-time tourist in Czechia, I was deeply moved, and the experience stayed with me after researching further, I discovered that Czechia offers excellent education, a strategic location in Europe, and an affordable cost of living.
Did your studies meet your expectations? How did you find the study programme, instructors, university facilities? Were there any differences from studying in your country?
Charles University, where I study, is a well-organized institution. The official website provides clear instructions on course introductions, registration, and more. However, in my country, students do not need to choose their own courses, as the school pre-arranges the schedule. The focus is on self-reliance, with fewer group activities; most teachers are talkative and eloquent. Since classmates remain the same throughout the courses, students have more opportunities to connect and form lasting friendships.
What was the biggest surprise with regard to studying or living in Czechia?
One of the biggest surprises was the relaxed pace of life and how independent you’re expected to be in your studies. In my country, where there’s more structure and guidance, here I found that professors provide broad outlines, but much of the learning happens outside the classroom. Another surprise was the relatively affordable cost of living, especially compared to other European countries, and how easy it is to travel around Europe on a budget. Lastly, I was surprised by how Czech students tend to be reserved and value their personal space.
What was your most memorable experience or what did you enjoy most as a student in Czechia?
I made many amazing, like-minded international friends who were open to new ideas. We exchanged thoughts, sparked creativity together, and collaborated on interesting projects.
How do you think your time in Czechia has helped your studies and/or your career?
The independent learning environment has strengthened my problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, which are crucial in any field. Interacting with a diverse group of international students has broadened my global perspective, making me more adaptable and culturally aware.
Do you have any advice for students thinking about studying in Czechia?
