I’ve been thinking about my goals and aspirations for the months ahead. Since arriving in Prague, I’ve always been open to staying here for my PhD, even though I dream of earning each degree from a different country or continent. But Prague has a way of pulling you in. From the cosy coffee shops perfect for studying to the endless array of restaurants and food options, it’s hard to imagine leaving this city behind.

One of the things I love most about Prague is how it feels like a different city with every season. In the fall, it’s a spooky, orange wonderland. In winter, it transforms into a Christmas fairy tale. Spring brings a burst of colour (and allergy pills!), and summer is full of life and energy - although I usually escape the heat after a few weeks since air conditioning isn’t a thing here.

Regarding my New Year’s resolutions, I’ve decided to leave the decision of where I’ll go after graduation to “future me.” I wish to make the best decision when the time comes. My other resolutions are simple: keep studying hard, continue exploring this beautiful country, spend more time in nature, read more books and keep a healthy balance between school, work, and life.

With exam season, I’m also focused on doing well. Luckily, Charles University’s exam system is super flexible, with options for taking exams at different times or even having multiple retakes. My advice? Always take the first option so you can relax later, knowing you have more chances if you need them - but who knows, maybe you’ll ace it on the first try and have more time to travel or visit family!

Here’s to a year of growth, balance, and new adventures!
