The Alumni Meetup Austria 2021 connected Austrian alumni of Czech universities. On October 4, 2021, the historically first online meetup of Austrian alumni who studied in the Czech Republic took place.
The event was organized by the Czech Republic Alumni programme in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vienna, the Czech Center Vienna, and CzechTrade Austria.
The event was also supported by representatives of the AKTION, CEEPUS, and Study in the Czech Republic programmes in a joint presentation providing advice to those interested in further studies. Two Czech start-ups, Ullmanna and Kaleido, presented their concepts and looked for new colleagues and opportunities among the participants.
The main point of the programme was a moderated discussion with Austrian alumni of Czech higher education institutions, during which the participants learned the reasons why they chose the Czech Republic, what effect it had on their current work and academic life or what Czech words they like best. The Alumni Talks recording will soon be available on the Study in the Czech Republic YouTube channel and the Czech Republic Alumni Facebook page.
The guests of Alumni Talks were:
-
René Kmet, a film director and an alumnus of the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
-
Michael Schäfl, a journalist for Oberösterreichische Nachrichten and an alumnus of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen through the AKTION programme.
-
Monika Seyringer, a master's degree student at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) and a bachelor's degree alumna at VŠE through the CEEPUS programme.
In the end, the participants had the opportunity to watch a short student documentary directed by René Kmet "The Conductor". This film won the "Best Documentary under 15 minutes" award at FAMUFEST 36 (2020), and you can watch it here.
We consider the Alumni Meetup Austria 2021 event to be a successful start to a series of alumni meetings that we are planning for the future, and we owe its success to our partners and speakers.
